IBOS member Santander continues its success by winning the titles ‘Best Bank in the World for SMEs’ by Euromoney, as well as ‘Best Bank in Latin America’.

On 7 July 2017, Santander was awarded Euromoney’s Best Bank for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for the second consecutive year. Santander was also awarded Best Bank in Latin America.

The bank’s continued success in the category of Best Bank for SMEs, by Euromoney, is due to Santander’s designs to help businesses overcome obstacles and grow. Their unrivalled strategy is what has put them at the top, along with their care for relationships with SME clients.

José Antonio Álvarez, CEO of Banco Santander Group, commented:

“It is an honour for the success of our SME programme to again be acknowledged and gratifying to see the hard work of our local teams pay off. These awards demonstrate that Santander is not only a global force for SMEs, helping them grow at home, modernise, and expand internationally, but that we consistently strive for excellence at a local level. We are grateful to Euromoney for recognising our work.”

Along with these prestigious awards, Santander was also awarded Best Bank in five of nine of its operational countries. Among the five countries is Brazil where, for the first time, Santander was recognised as the Best Bank in Brazil. During Euromoney’s annual awards process, this year, Santander’s strength in global corporate banking was also demonstrated by being awarded Best Investment Bank in both Mexico and Chile.

In regards to being awarded Best Bank in Brazil, CEO Sergio Rial commented:

“Santander Brasil is a bank in constant transformation. We have achieved the best results in our history while increasing the number of satisfied customers and the level of engagement of our teams. These awards recognise the progress we have made and carry with them the responsibility of continuing to build a better bank for our clients, employees, shareholders and society.”
